Since 1995, the Junior Film Fleadh has curated a programme of screenings and events, focused on the youth cinema audience. Initially a subsection of the main Galway Film Fleadh event in July, in 1999 the Junior Film Fleadh was spun out into its own event.

Running in November of each year, the festival programmes cinema screenings alongside workshops focused on educating young people in the art of the filmmaking. We also curate an Outreach programme and programme select unique screenings during the year.

Screenings are comprised of two primary strands:

• A strand of young audience curated short and feature films, taking place in the evenings after school and weekends
• A strand of education curriculum focused short and feature films, featuring titles in 2nd and 3rd languages (Gaelige, French, German & Spanish) alongside historical & social documentaries
