We are pleased to announce that the 25th Junior Galway Film Fleadh will take place this year from Sunday 10th to Thursday 14th of November at Pálás Galway. The Junior Film Fleadh starts with a weekend full of film premieres and film-making workshops, followed by a week of European language films for students studying French, German, Spanish and Irish. There will also be an Irish film outreach programme, details of which will be announced in early October.
Finally we are pleased to announce that our short film category, Future Filmmakers is making a return in 2019. Full details of our curriculum screenings and weekend screening will be posted on our website in the coming weeks. For now, keep our dates in your diaries!
Future Filmmakers
Are you a young filmmaker? Have you, your friends, school, college, summer camp, youth or sports club made a short film and would like to see it on the big screen? Submissions are currently open for persons aged between 12 – 14 years and 15 – 18 years. We’ll screen a selection of the best submitted short films on the big screen, in front of an audience, during the Junior Galway Film Fleadh.
It’s never been easier to make a film so grab some friends and a camera (or phones/tablets etc.) and get filming. The only rules are that it must be under 12 minutes and have been made since December 2017. We require you to submit the finished version of the film in the best quality you have available, along with a high resolution still photo and a short description of your film. So have all this at hand when you are ready to submit.
Any genre/style from Documentary, Animation, Drama, Action, Musical, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Horror, or any mix thereof is acceptable. Also don’t be afraid to experiment and mix it up. We like surprises! Entries are welcome as Gaeilge.
Prizes include a €250 grand prize, work experience on Film Fleadh TV in July 2020 (you must be 18 to qualify for this prize) and a week’s summer animation or drama camp sponsored by Galway Film Centre. So, what are you waiting for? Get submitting!
